Biography
The Road to Becoming an Artist
I loved painting ever since I was a child. Whenever I accompanied my parents on visits to their friends, I would bring a pen and an art diary, quietly sketching the scenes around me as I waited. Growing up, however, cultural expectations meant I never imagined becoming an artist as a future profession. I was often told that art could not provide a stable income for everyday life. As a result, I studied design in high school and gradually set my passion for art aside, tucked into a small corner of my heart under the pressures of school and university life. After graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design, I went on to work as a graphic designer.
In 2015, I moved from Taiwan to Melbourne, the cultural capital of Australia. Its artistic culture and environment deeply attracted me, and the beautiful scenery and animals began to reawaken my inner love for art.
2021 marked the moment I began to focus wholeheartedly on painting and completed my first work on canvas, “Before Reaching The Dream”. Created with acrylic paint for the first time, this work reflects the journey towards my long-held dream of becoming an artist. I am honoured that it received the 2021 American Art Awards – ANIMAL 6th Place (Tie), and was later recognised with the 2024 World Art Awards – EXPRESSIONISM – 3rd Place (Tie).
This recognition marked a profound turning point in my life. It reshaped my way of seeing myself and reaffirmed the artistic talent I had carried since childhood. In the same year, I made the decision to leave my career as a graphic designer and dedicate myself fully to art education for children and young people, drawing on my own journey to nurture their technical abilities and build confidence in their artistic voices.
Now, painting is the happiest and most fulfilling part of my day. I enjoy blending colours and exploring the intersections of nature and life in my work. As a mother of two young children and a passionate art educator, I balance my own practice with guiding young artists. This dual commitment shapes the pace of my creations, allowing each piece to unfold thoughtfully, and I look forward to sharing new works as they emerge.
